Grandma's footpath
My grandma used to live in the foothills. "Did you use to walk on this footpath?" I ask.
"We used to run on it every day." "I didn't use to wear footwear in summer."
She used to walk barefoot over the footbridge. I hold up the old drawing. It is the same footbridge.
"Where did you get this?" she says quietly. "It was in your storybook. Grandad kept it."
In the mud we find one small footprint. "My footsteps used to be lighter," she laughs.
Her footwork is still very good, and she climbs with one foothold at a time. "Did you use to play football here?" "No. I used to wait for your grandad."
